PTA Volunteers refurbished playground during the June 2024 Playground DIY Session

The June 2024 School Playground DIY Session day was a resounding success, thanks to the incredible efforts of our dedicated volunteers. With your help, we accomplished a tremendous amount, and the school grounds look better than ever.

What We Achieved

Our hardworking team tackled various tasks, including scraping and painting the outdoor wall near the Reception class and a wall in the nursery. We also painted wood posts black in the quiet area, applied a clear coat of varnish to outdoor playground sheds, trimmed enormous amounts of overgrown plants, filled new planters with soil, and repotted several plants. These improvements have significantly enhanced the appearance and functionality of our school grounds.

A Team Effort

A huge thank you goes out to Caroline, Charlotte, Chris, Craig, Ed, Emma, Kevin, Maria, Martin, Mathieu, Nathalie, Natasha, Phuong, Rachel, Sandy, Simon, Tim, and Tom. Your hard work and dedication made all the difference. Each of you played a crucial role in transforming the school environment, and it was inspiring to see everyone come together for this community effort.

We couldn’t have achieved this without the exceptional leadership of Myles, who organized the painting tasks, and Simon, who led the many gardening tasks. Your coordination was invaluable.

A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Henry for providing the much-needed tea and coffee, and to Jamie for the delicious croissants and buns. Your contributions kept everyone energized and motivated throughout the morning.

All this would not have been possible without the generous donations from our members, which helped us buy all the gardening and painting supplies. Your financial support was crucial in ensuring we had everything needed to complete these projects.

Highlight

One of the highlights of the day was seeing some of the children playing. Their presence was a powerful reminder of why we come together for these community efforts.

Looking Forward

Many volunteers mentioned their enthusiasm for doing this again and as soon as possible. So, we will likely organize another session before the end of the summer if we can.
